Student Success Statement
“We learn to do by doing. ”
I agree with the statement being said. The stuff that we know in life, at some point we didn't know. Everything we know we learned by doing it and having practice. This is kind of like saying you won’t know until you try. In many parts of our lives we hold ourselves back and say that “we can't do it”. But maybe we can. We just don't have the confidence to do it. Because you don't know whether you can do something until you try it. And even if you do try and fail, practice makes perfect. So this is where that saying takes place. “We learn to do by doing.”  We can’t underestimate ourselves. But also you can’t expect to do something and have it at the first try. Because overtime you’ll learn. And you will learn by doing. If we were never to try anything new, we would have no knowledge. Trying new things is important. And it is important not to give up. Even if after many tries something is still difficult, the more you practice the better you will get whatever you want. I think that just as long as you have confidence and patience you can do anything you set your mind to. And by doing it more you will be better at it.

“Being your own person will take you further than what others want you to be.”
                                                                    -Allison Carlos

The reason why i thought about this is because it is truly what i think. You have to be your own person. What this means is that you need to be whoever you want to be. Do whatever you want to do. Live the way you want to. If you go your life by what others want you to be, you will live unhappily. You won't be satisfied with who you are because it isn't truly you. In reality the opinion of others doesn't matter. What matters is being confident in who you are. Being yourself will only cause happiness in your life. Having people like you for what you aren't will only turn onto a hassle later on. You have to be constantly aware of the way you're being because you’re acting as someone you’re not. When you’re truly yourself you can be carefree. And if people don’t like you for you well it doesn't really matter because at least you're being the way you want to be. And you will have your true friends which do like you for who you are. Also you will have lots more fun. Being your own person is better. Be you.

                                    Obedience
“Obedience is central to becoming, being, and remaining happy.”
                                                -David Bednar

Being obedient will make a lot of things in life right. It will bring a lot of things as well. Happiness being one of those things. If we weren’t obedient we wouldn’t enjoy the things we have. For example sometimes in life you have to be obedient and patient for what you want. If we were not obedient we would give up and not work for it. Resulting in not getting what we want. Then we will not be satisfied and unhappy. So being obedient will pay off. You may get material prizes for being obedient but most importantly you will gain happiness. And that is something to wouldn’t be taken away from you.

"Choosing the right is always the right thing to do."
                                                           -Alex Linares
I agree with this quote. Choosing the right is the best thing to do because you'll be doing right and feeling right. When you choose the right you'll be making you're own life better. In some cases doing right will either benefit you or the person you were helping. Regardless of who it is, you'll be helping someone no matter what since it's the right thing. Doing right will never cause harm towards no one. Doing wrong however can hurt multiple people. It can be a choice that will hurt you and you'll have regret for a long time. Or, you can make a poor choice that will hurt many people. And this choice will be even more painful because you hurt others  lives and you can't do anything about it. Choosing the right is always the right thing to do.

Image result for john wooden "What you are as a person is far more important than what you are as a basketball player."
                                        John Wooden

There can be many reasons as to why he would say this. Some people might think this is weird or odd of him to say because he is known for basketball. Its what made him known and made him who he is. Although, what about when he retires? Or when he can no longer be of the sport? What is left? This is why he says the person you are is more important. Because to some when they think of you they wont think of the basketball player or coach, but as the kind of person you were. It will leave a much more important picture and respect of you and your name.

Patriarch of Antoch & All the East, 1846-'94
I think that the reason why he says this is because money isn't what is our 'mission'. This goes back to feeling good when you do good. Money won't be able to get you the same feeling. I agree with this saying. Money isn't what sets us at a higher level than others. It is the good being in us that does. For example there can be many homeless people who are at a higher level than rich people. Money isn't everything in this world but to some it is. To others, their everything is to be the best person they can be. I think those are the best people. Those are the people who make a difference because they want to create something good in their lives. Nowadays all everyone wants is money. They are selfish. So people who don't care about money but care about being good are the ones that stand out.

Reflection: Do you think you would like to be one? Why? Why not?

I would not like to be a dental assistants. It seems like a boring career to me. This career resembles lots to a dentist and as i said in my other report of dentists i wouldn’t choose this career. I wouldn’t be doing much work. I’d be doing more paperwork and such things more than the physical work which does not interest me.

"You cannot do wrong and feel right. It is impossible."
Ezra T. Benson

The reason why he says this is because if you do wrong you'll have a bad conscious. You can't expect to do something bad and feel happy and careless. It's like when people say "treat others the way you want to be treated". You can't go around being a bad person and expect to get good things in return. You will get back what you gave. Not only that but part of you will always think about what you did wrong. You'll be thinking about how things would've turned out differently if you had done the right thing. For example you can create a crime and not get caught or locked up. However you'll always be "locked up" through your brain because you know what you did is wrong. And if you were to be actually locked up you'll spend the rest of your life in jail and will always regret your poor choices. THAT is why you can't do wrong and feel right. It is simply impossible.

Education: In order to become a dentist you must obtain a doctoral or professional. To get the degree it takes about 3 years.

Demand for this profession: Between 2014 and 2024 the expected growth is 18 percent. The need for this profession will grow as the population ages.

Reflection: Do you think you would like to be one? Why? Why not?

I would not like to be a dentist. To me this seems like a boring job, and it's not something that i would like to be for the rest of my life. Also working a career that involves the oral health does not seem appealing to me.

"When I do good, I feel good. When I do bad, I feel bad."
                              -Abraham Lincoln

Doing good deeds will only cause happiness. Doing bad will make you feel like a bad person. That will only create bad. By doing that you won't be able to live freely because you'll always be having a bad conscious. On the other hand, doing good will make you a happier person overall. You will feel so good that you want to keep that feeling and only do good things from then on. When you do good most likely you will receive the same. You do good things, you get good things. You do bad, you receive bad. That is also why you have to choose the right. You will always receive what you give. Doing good is important, it shows the kind of person you are.

I think that i would like to be a chiropractor. It seems like an interesting and fun career. I like it because it's in the medical field and because i would like to be helping people. Another reason is because i wouldn't be risking anyone's life which is something that i don't like that is part of other medical careers. Although one thing i don’t like about becoming a chiropractor is how long you have to go to school for.

"The key to freedom is obedience. The more obedient we are, the more freedom we have."
                                           - Boyd K. Parker
Obedience is a very important part in our life. If there is no obedience in you, you cant expect to go very far in life. The reason why its important is because when you're obedient you learn better. Not quicker because when you do things quick it's just to get things over with. Being obedient will help you actually learn something. Or when you teach someone something you have to be patient and obedient. Being obedient will help you socialize with other better as well.
