“Associate yourself with men of good quality if you esteem your own reputation; for ‘tis better to be alone than in bad company.” -George Washington
I agree with this saying. If you surround yourself with bad people it will lead to you doing the same things they do. The same goes for surrounding yourself with the right people. They will influence you to do whats right. This is why we must always choose the right friends. By doing that we will become better people as well. They will either influence you do what's right or the other way around. When we choose the wrong we end up becoming what we never thought of. For example you can say you will never do drugs. Then one day you start hanging out with a group of friends who do that. Overtime they will influence you to do it. We must always associate with the right people.

Arnold H. Glasgow
“In life as in football, you won’t go far, unless you know where the goalposts are”                                                                                                                           I understand what Mr. Glasgow is saying by this quote. I agree as well. Goalposts in this meaning is relating to setting goals. When we set our goals we work towards that. Once we reach those goals we stop. Then we make another goal to work towards that. So in life we needs these goalposts. We need this to know where we are heading. This relates to football because those goalposts is what they are working towards. That is what their goal is. So with these goalposts we will make it far. We will be more successful due to them. They are like a stop to make goals and know where you are going next. It is like planning out your life before accomplishing it.

“Only those live who do good.”   -Count Leo Tolstoy
Doing good is the key to life. If you do good you will live. You’ll be able to live a good life. What this quote means is that if you do good you’ll be able to live a free and happy life. If you are someone who does not do good you will not live. This doesn’t mean you will die. What it means is that you will live a life with troubles. This not a good way to live. Therefore we must always do good. So that we can actually live and be happy. Doing good and choosing the right is always the best thing to do and what we must always do.

Poverty or Prosperity

Student Success Statement
A Choice: Poverty of Prosperity
“I hated poverty. Poverty is more of a choice than anything else, and i can change that (poverty). It depends upon how hard i want to work, and i decided that i would change it.”                                                                                                 -  Dr. Ben Carson
Our lives are built on us making choices. The way we make choices or the ones we make affect us greatly. So when Dr Carson says this, i agree. We make our choices. We are responsible for them. If you want something badly it is up to you to work for it. And when you work hard for that one thing it will pay off. All our choices are up to us. Your hard work will create change. So when we fight for something we must always have a passion for it. That will create the change we want. It all leads back to making the right choices and fighting for what you want.

“Even if everyone is doing it, WRONG IS NEVER RIGHT.” -Russell M. Nelson
I completely agree with this quote. If something is wrong, for no reason should you be doing it. Regardless if your friends are doing it. Even if they are pressuring you to do something you should know that it is wrong. This can stay with you for a long time because you know you did wrong. An example we have all heard is the typical drug and alcohol use. Even if your friends are pressuring you, under no circumstance should you do it. Never will it will be right to do it. Even if you are old enough to drink you should not. It is still wrong. It is even worse if you decide to do it at this age. No matter what if something wrong it will never be right.

Enthusiasm

Student Success Statement
“Enthusiasm makes the difference.” -Dr. Norman Vincent Peale
I think that this is a wonderful quote. I agree with what it is saying. If you do not have the enthusiasm for what you are doing then why do it? You will get nowhere by this. You can’t do something and expect for it to have a good output in you aren’t putting in the work for it. If you are doing something without wanting to do it, it will show in the result product. When you have the enthusiasm your final product will result great. You can’t produce something great without the effort. This is why we must always have a passion for what it is we do. Having enthusiasm also goes for attitude. If you have no enthusiasm people will get bored of you. You wouldn’t want to be friends with someone who has no enthusiasm and is no fun, so don’t be that person.
